Hi everyone,
I am looking for feedback from Japanese learners who use Language Reactor. I often understand a subtitle word after checking the dictionary, but forget it soon afterward, so I built a small custom-dictionary integration that turns the word into a visual mnemonic card.
With it, you can click a Japanese subtitle word and open its Bento Card directly inside Language Reactor. An existing card loads immediately. If the word is new, you can add it to a deck with its reading, meaning, visual mnemonic, common usage warning, and example sentence, then review it later in Bento Cards.
If you would like to try it:
- Open Settings → Custom dictionary URLs in Language Reactor.
- Add this URL:
https://bentocards.app/lr?word=WORD
- Click a Japanese subtitle word and choose Bento Cards in the dictionary panel.
Setup and screenshots: https://bentocards.app/language-reactor?utm_source=language_reactor_forum&utm_medium=community&utm_campaign=language_reactor_launch
It is free during open beta. Bento Cards is an independent integration and is not affiliated with Language Reactor.
I would especially appreciate feedback on three things:
- Does the visual card help the word stick better than a normal definition?
- Does the embedded card fit comfortably in your Language Reactor layout?
- What would make the setup or lookup flow easier?
