YouTube Chinese Translation Consistently Failing

I’m experiencing the same YouTube translation issue and would like to provide some additional details.

Environment and language configuration:

  • Browser: Google Chrome on Windows
  • Language Reactor version: 6.0.1
  • Country/region:China
  • Original subtitle language: English
  • Target translation language: Simplified Chinese
  • Example video URL: Not available at the moment

Issue description:

I really value Language Reactor and rely on it as a useful tool for language learning. I’d very much like to continue using it, so it’s frustrating that the translation feature has stopped working.

The original English subtitles still appear normally, but Simplified Chinese translations are unavailable on all YouTube videos. The message “Error fetching video translations” consistently appears in the top-right corner of the YouTube video player.

In the top-left corner of the Language Reactor settings interface, the messages “Failed services: Kokoro” and an mTTS error appear intermittently. Sometimes these errors disappear, and the extension even reports that all services are running normally. However, the Chinese translation feature still does not work at all, regardless of the reported service status.

I’ve also tried disabling the AdGuard extension, but unfortunately, this made no difference.

I sincerely hope the development team can investigate this issue and help identify the cause. If this is a known server-side problem or a bug in the current version, I’d really appreciate any clarification, updates, or possible workarounds.

Thank you very much for your time and for all the work you put into Language Reactor. I genuinely hope this issue can be resolved so I can continue using the extension for my language learning.
