Help with Playback Speed for Learning English

Hi everyone!

I’m new to learning English and I’ve been watching shows on Netflix to practice. I noticed there’s an option to change the playback speed, but I’m not sure what’s the best speed for learning.

Not only that, but I’ve tried watching at 1.25x and 1.5x speed, but sometimes it’s too fast to understand. When I watch slower, it feels too slow, and I don’t know if I’m getting the right practice.

I’m posting here because I can’t post in the English category of the forum. Can anyone help me with what speed works best for learning English? Or do you have any tips for using playback speed while watching? I have used video speed calculator to find and calculate playback speed of YouTube videos.

Thanks a lot!

I’ve been using a few different extensions for this, but sometimes they glitch out on certain browsers. If you’re still having trouble getting the speed exactly where you want it, you could try running the audio or video file through a web-based tool instead.
I usually use Video Playback Speed Calculator Online because it lets you get really specific with the increments without messing up the pitch too much. It might be a good workaround if the built-in settings are acting up!
Another thing that helps me is slowing it down to 0.75x first, then gradually bumping it up as my ears get used to the accent. Good luck with the English practice!
