Hi, I am trying to watch a chinese video but the translations are no longer appearing, and individual word highlighting is not working either. I don’t know if its the new update but it was working fine before then.
Me too. Youtube was not translate indivdual word
Same. I am using Brave browser.
Not the first time they update without checking on brave browser and ultimately break the app… seems such a normal thing to do to double check on chrome and brave. bit annoying but i have to use chatgpt to fix it for me everytime this happens.
i am not sure it fixes evertything, but it fixes the main things that was broken for me :
Language Reactor 6.0.0: local fix verified in Brave
After the update, my original subtitles still appeared, but these features stopped working:
- Sentence translations.
- Vocabulary colours and tags.
- Clicking a word to open its dictionary details.
A local patch restored these features on two YouTube videos. This is a workaround, not an official release.
Technical findings
The failure occurred in Language Reactor’s bundled request library while it traversed objects. In my Brave page, calling .push() with one of these objects threw an error before the language-processing request was sent.
Two internal tracking arrays were affected. Replacing their .push() calls with equivalent indexed assignments restored processing.
The dictionary also opened at the top-right. A separate change anchored it above the clicked word and kept it aligned during window resizing.
Instructions you can give an LLM
Help me diagnose and patch Language Reactor 6.0.0 in Brave.
Back up the extension first. Preserve my account, saved vocabulary, settings, extension identity, and existing permissions.
Inspect
pageScript_lly.min.js. In the version tested, the affected helpers are namedHmandGle; names may differ in other builds.
- Reproduce the translation/word-processing failure and inspect the exact error and source column. Do not assume a network or permissions problem.
- In
Hm, replace the tracking-array operationr.push(n)withr[r.length] = n.- In
Gle, replace the tracking-array operationi.push(a)withi[i.length] = a.- Make these changes only inside the identified helpers. Do not replace
.push()throughout the bundle. My file contained two duplicated bundle branches, and both needed the correction.- Check that the edited JavaScript parses.
Optional dictionary-position fix: In this build,
LEepositions the full dictionary and $K handles opening it. Capture the actual clicked word element. During positioning, read its currentgetBoundingClientRect()and centre the dictionary above it. Keep the popup inside the viewport and limit its height to the available space above the word. Reuse the existing resize/scroll updates; do not store only the initial rectangle, because that becomes stale when resizing.Installation: Brave rejected direct edits to the signed installation as corrupted. Prepare a separate patched copy and load it through Developer mode → Load unpacked , preserving the original manifest key and permissions. Do not uninstall the extension or clear its data as a troubleshooting step.
Verify in the browser: sentence translations, vocabulary colours/tags, word definitions, and popup alignment before and after resizing. Report what actually passed.
Note: A local unpacked copy does not receive normal marketplace updates automatically. An upstream fix would be preferable.
same issue happening in brave after the update. Words highlight is not working and english subtitle is also not showing.

For how long do we have to tolerate this broken update? I’m a paying customer, but even if I wasn’t, this simply is unacceptable. Revert the update, do some real testing, not “customer beta-testing,” and then update it.
Same issue here. I cannot click on words anymore, I cannot copy anything, etc.
The English human translation is supposedly not available for my current video, but switching to French subtitles and then English again fixes the problem, human english translation subtitles become available again.
I’ve the same problem. Please fix it as soon as possible. I’m a paying user and need LR every day. Thanks.
Hello everyone! Thanks for your reports. The extension is officially supported in Google Chrome. In other browsers, some features may not work or may not work properly. Please use Google Chrome and let us know if something isn’t working as expected. Thank you!
All reports have been forwarded to the team, and will be fixed if possible. Thank you for your understanding.
same here. fine before the update
use brave bug, same …
For me translation are appearing, but individual word highlighting is not appearing on hover
I’m facing the same problem here. I though I was the only one that have this problem with brave browser
Same here, does anyone know which browsers it does work on?
i normally use brave (i’d like to clarify that, i never had any issues before this newest update); however, even chrome has this issue now in regards to no longer having dual subtitles, highlighted hovering translations, OR dictionary access. after installing chrome and testing the extension, it reverted back to being broken after one video. sigh.
I can confirm that Thai subtitles also stopped working for me.
I’m also using Brave and would prefer to use Brave over Chrome.
Looks like it was fixed, it’s working fine now
Found it - a YouTube ad-blocking rule (uBlock Origin lists, also used by Brave Shields) conflicts with a library in 6.0.0. Fixed in 6.0.1, now in store review. Meanwhile turn Shields / your ad blocker off for youtube.com and reload. Thanks @Ludovic_Taillandier, your analysis was spot on. ![]()
