I am trying to use Aria to practice chatting, but the German TTS doesn’t work. It seems it doesn’t recognize my installed TTS language package. Same happens on pc and on android. For other languages it works without any problem. Does anyone have a solution?
I’ve been complaining about this for some time. The German TTS is a disgrace, even though the other languages I’ve tried are pretty good. It’s a shame, since the AI engine is fairly entertaining. I hope the developers fix it soon!
Hi. I did some fixes on the TTS code today, it should be working better now.
Hi David,
A little better, but still an embarrassment for LR. I’m pleased you have given it some thought. I would say the German TTS is currently on par with that seen 10 years ago.
The AI is terrific, however.
What browser and operating system are you using? For Aria… English, Spanish, French, Chinese, Japanese, Korean are generated on a server I have here in the basement using local models. For other languages, it falls back to browser TTS.
Try checking the voices available on your system here: EasySpeech - Cross browser Speech Synthesis with easy API
If you use Microsoft Edge browser, you should have excellent TTS.
I am using an iPad Pro, and several browsers are all the same. The TTS does not use the installed voice which I have selected. It seems to default to the worst voice available in the OS. This explains why French and Spanish are pretty good, but German is horrible.
