Page-by-Page Reading and Auto-Resume for Books

Hello Language Reactor Team,

I’d like to suggest a couple of features that would make reading books on Language Reactor much more user-friendly and sustainable. One thing LingQ does really well is allowing users to read books page by page, and automatically continue from where they left off when reopening the app. Currently, it can be difficult to keep track of your place or break a long text into manageable sections while reading on Language Reactor, which can make the experience less engaging and sometimes overwhelming.

Having a page-by-page reading mode helps readers process the text in smaller pieces, keeps motivation high, and adds a sense of structure to the learning process. Likewise, being able to pick up exactly where you left off—without having to search for your spot—is a big advantage, especially for longer books.

If Language Reactor could add features like page navigation and automatic resume from the last position, the overall book reading experience would become much more enjoyable, organized, and motivating.

Thank you for considering these suggestions!

Hello @Utku_Arslan!
Thank you very much for your thoughtful feedback!

We agree that the ability to continue reading from where you left off (subtitle line) is a useful feature. Currently, Language Reactor opens the book on the same page where you left off, which helps you keep your place in long texts. However, it does not yet resume reading from the exact subtitle line, but we will consider adding this feature in the future.

As for page navigation, this feature is already available. You can move between pages using the “forward/back” arrows or by entering a specific page number.(screenshot below)

Thanks again!

Thank you very much for your reply and for clarifying the current features!

I wanted to point out a specific issue: While it’s true that you can resume from the same page at the top (for example, the “1/61” you see in the screenshot), the section at the bottom (the “77” in the image) always resets to the beginning every time I open the app. This means I have to read all 77 lines in one session or take notes to remember where I left off, which can be quite inconvenient for long texts.

It would be extremely helpful if the “continue where you left off” feature could also be added for the subtitle lines at the bottom, so that I don’t have to scroll or search for my last position each time.

Additionally, I would like to request an “.epub import feature”. Having the ability to import ePub books directly would make it much easier to bring in new reading material and manage book files.

Thank you for considering these suggestions, and for your continued development of the platform!

My all support with you

@Utku_Arslan Yeah, I understand. We will consider adding the ability to return to the same line (where 77 is) where the user stopped during their last reading session.
As for the “.epub import feature,” we have been working on it for the past few months.

We appreciate your feedback.
Thank you,
The Language Reactor Team :slightly_smiling_face:

would it not be easier to integrate LR into koreader as an extension? rather than building an e-reader from scratch? it’s the most popular ereader alternative to kindle, syncs between devices and calibre library + a ton of features

being open source you could send the codebase to Claude/deepseek and ask it to code an extension
