the subtitles background blocks more of the image than the subtitles need to. character edge outlines should be enough to be able to read the subtitles regardless of the image
Yes, this would be a huge improvement.
-In Netflix, the bottom bar takes much space
-In Media file player, the grayed background of the subtitles fills the whole screen.
This causes the dilemma of choosing to either have a small screen of content, or small subtitles. You can’t have both large subtitles and a large screen of content at the same time.
Character outline of the subtitles, shown on top of the context, without any additional grayed out background, would be great.

As for the bottom bar on Netflix, this is a Netflix setting. We cannot change this on our end.
Without the Language Reactor extension, the bottom bar will also be displayed in full-screen mode.
