ASR subtitles are off

The regular subtitles are matching the audio, but the ASR subtitles are not. I thought it was supposed to be the other way around.

Platform: Netflix.
Show Title: I Will Find you
Episode: 2.
Time Stamp: 9:05.
Audio: Avant qu’on devienne Bonnie et Clyde, Jim a réussi à localiser Hilde Winslow.

ASR French subtitle: Avant qu’on devienne Bonnie et Clyde, il a cherché Hilde Winslow pour moi.

Regular French subtitle: Same as the audio.

Chrome, iMac, USA.

  • Regular subtitles are the official subtitles from Netflix. They match the audio perfectly.
  • ASR subtitles are generated by a neural network using automatic speech recognition. They’re useful for videos that don’t have proper subtitles at all. However, the technology isn’t perfect and can sometimes make mistakes
