Hello,
First of all, I’d like to thank you for developing such a powerful and useful tool! I’ve been using Language Reactor extensively and appreciate its features.
I have a suggestion regarding subtitle functionality on YouTube. Currently, while working with local video files, we can select and use our own .srt files, which is fantastic. However, when using the extension on YouTube, we are limited to using the subtitles already available on the platform (e.g., auto-generated or provided by the uploader). Most videos on youtube don’t have subtitles by uploader so auto-generated subtitles are only option but they are not good for using with Language Reactor.
The problem arises because YouTube’s auto-generated subtitles often have incorrect sentence segmentation or timing, which affects the effectiveness of Language Reactor’s auto-translation.
With the increasing accessibility of AI-powered tools, creating high-quality .srt files has become much easier and faster. Many users can now produce their own accurate subtitles with tools like whisper, capcut etc. If Language Reactor provided an option to upload custom .srt files for YouTube videos, it would unlock a lot of potential for a better user experience.
