I can't watch shows on Netflix dubbed

Hi, I can’t watch japanese shows I used to watch a couple months ago dubbed in German, because whenever I choose German audio, it gets into this loop of constantly switching between original Japanese audio and German audio.
This happens with any other language that is not the original, and it keeps switching rapidly, which makes it unwatchable. Why can this be happening?

Hello @Duru_Cicek, thank you for letting us know! Could you please send a link to the episode where this happens so we can find the issue more quickly?

It happens on literally all dubbed content. I found it on this episode

and it happens anytime I change the audio on anything other than the original. It is unwatchable.

This audio looping glitch happens when the app’s global default settings constantly fight the manual audio selection you make in the video player.

Here is how to fix it immediately:

  1. Change your global account settings: Go into your main account profile settings (ideally via a web browser, not the TV app) and set your default audio language to German. This stops the app from trying to revert to the Japanese default while you watch.
  2. Clear the app cache: Go to your device’s system settings, force close the streaming app, and clear its cache. This wipes the corrupted temporary audio data, causing the loop.

Please fix this. Basically unusable for me because I watch a lot of dubbed content.

Hello @Xingyu_Zhang, I can’t reproduce this issue on my end. Does this happen with all subtitles, or just specific ones?
Can you share a link to the episode where this happens?
Try disabling all extensions except LR, clearing the cache, and then trying again to change the audio language to anything other than the original. Let me know how it goes! Thanks!

Hi, appreciate you looking into this. It happens for some shows, not every show, but for the shows affected, it’s basically stuck in a loop switching between the two languages. I can’t watch Crayon Shin as it switches between Mandarin and Japanese in a loop (available in Taiwan, other countries might not have this show): https://www.netflix.com/watch/82104141?trackId=284616272

I’ve cleared cache and disabled other extensions, the problem is still there.

I also get an error sometimes that LR “Failed to retrieve linguistic data,” I think it’s related to the issue.

@Xingyu_Zhang thank you for your reply. This is a known issue and will be fixed in a future update. We apologize for the inconvenience

Thanks, do you have an ETA on the fix? The issue has been around for a while and makes a portion of the shows unwatchable.

@Xingyu_Zhang, unfortunately, I can’t give you an exact timeframe at the moment. Each update includes multiple new features and bug fixes. Thank you for your patience and understanding!

I’m also having this issue. This is a bug.

I’m on Netflix trying to watch it in German. When I turn extension off I can easily watch with German dub. When I turn on extension, the dub defaults to Japanese, and when I switch it to German in the LR settings, it loops and glitches out and crashes Netflix.

@Yana I’m watching Blue Lock on Netflix in Edge browser if you want to reproduce. I would love high priority fix on this

Hello @Pineappleboi, Thank you for your message! Please try using Google Chrome, as LR is officially supported only in Chrome. This is an intermittent bug, and the dub subtitles still work for most users or the issue only occurs with certain films.
