The ASR Pro Italian subtitles on Netflix have stopped working.
It used to work perfectly before, but now it doesn’t load anymore — only the regular “Italian” subtitles appear.

Please check if there’s an issue with the ASR Pro Italian track or Netflix integration. This feature is extremely useful for language learners, and it would be great to have it working again.
Angelina, any updates?
It turns out that the problem is not just with this particular movie or a particular language. This is an ASR Pro error for multiple, if not all, languages.
@Angelina_Kalinichenk
Hello,
I wanted to follow up because the issue still hasn’t been resolved.
Even though you confirmed the fix on October 9th, the problem keeps coming back — every single day. ASR Pro Italian works for a short moment, and then it stops again. At this point, the extension is not working more often than it is working.
There are many users reporting the same thing in different languages, and there has been no update or communication from your side. We are paying for this service, and it shouldn’t break daily.
Could you please give us a clear update on what’s going on and when we can expect a stable fix?
Hello @Judy1!
We had some issues with nlp machines, and it should be working now. Please let me know if it’s not! Thank you for your patience, we appreciate it!
@Angelina_Kalinichenk THE ASR PRO GERMAN was having a issues for a while which started working fine a day or two again. Today it got even worse then before.
It works for first couple of sentences before throwing this error. :
I have the same problem. It worked for a few subtitles and then it stopped working.
And I am not able to get it back by switching subtitles, reloading Netflix, switching the extension off and back on etc.
It’s quite frustrating. This is a paid feature and the main reason why I bought the extension. How can a paid feature be so unreliable?
The extension is pretty good otherwise, but very unreliable. This issue, but also other issues. Basically each time I use Language Reactor, I am scared if it’s gonna work today or not…
Also, when I try to restart it, I often get “RATE LIMIT EXCEEDED”. I understand that you have to protect the service from excessive abuse / DDOS attacks, but this is just a normal user usage! I don’t think it’s the main reason behind the problem, but it’s quite annoying too. This extension has been around for many years, why can’t you make it “just work”?
And if an issue such as this occurs, why cannot you either quickly provide a workaround, or, ideally, fix it? Obviously, it’s been on and off for weeks now.
So I tested this each day for a few recent days. And I have noticed that each time I try Language Reactor (I have a Pro version) with ASR for the first time in the day, the ASR subtitles actually DO show up. But always just for a few seconds, and then they switch back to the Netflix original version, and do not appear again at all for some time, whatever I do. There is usually no error message popping up, if I do not count the “RATE_LIMIT_EXCEEDED”, but that shows up when I try to play with it more, not the first time in the day.
This suggests that the ASR itself might be working, but a strange bug in Language Reactor causes that the ASR subtitles do not show up. The developers should address this, or at least acknowledge the problem! That is, if this project is not completely dead yet.
So I keep testing it on the same film… and I have noticed that it actually behaves like this: at first, the proper ASR seem to load. After a few seconds, ASR subtitles are replaced - but not by the original Netflix ones as I thought… but by a mixture of the original ones and the ASR! So, this looks like an LR feature, trying to “fix” the ASR by merging it with the original subtitles.
But that defeats the purpose of ASR completely… Sure, the ASR is never perfect, but we can always display the human translation too (as third subtitles). Merging them together just takes the worst from both worlds.
So even if it’s a feature, please provide a way to use just the ASR. It used to work before.
Angelina, can you get back to me? Are the developers aware of this? Will this ever get fixed? LR does not do ASR for me anymore, but a broken Frankenstein of mixed original subtitles with the ASR subtitles. This is useless to me. If it’s not going to be fixed then just let me know that I should cancel my subscription, I do not want to pay for the Pro service and not able to use it, I have been waiting for several weeks already.
Hello @paskal
Sorry for the delay. We’re looking into the issue. It’s a priority for us right now.
I’ll let you know as soon as we figure out what it is.
Hi Angelina, I have just checked it, and the problem still persists. For a few seconds, the pure ASR subtitles appear, but then they are replaced by the useless mix with the original subtitles.
