BREAKING NEWS: Netflix has its own ASR now (for Netflix Originals)

You can test it for yourself with the recently released show “A Toxic Love Story”

You can’t pick the ASR subtitles like you do with Language Translator, they change automatically if your Audio and Subtitles languages match.

If you’re watching it in English audio with Italian subtitles, you will get one subtitles file.

If you’re watching it in Italian audio with Italian subtitles, you will get another subtitles file, the transcription of the Italian audio you’re listening to.

I know it works for German and French too, but there are tons of languages and I can’t be sure for them all.

Test if for yourself to see if the language you’re studying is supported.

This is great even for people that aren’t using it for language learning, that just enjoy having the subtitles matching the audio.

IMPORTANT: This only applies to Netflix Originals released this year and some from last year. Old stuff like “Devilman Crybaby” is not supported, at least for now.

Example: 30 Rock was recently added, but it’s not supported, as it’s not a Netflix Original.
