Hello, I’m experiencing the following error in Language Reactor:
Language Reactor Error: Failed to retrieve linguistic data: BAD_REQUEST Lang: fa
I’m currently watching an educational course on a YouTube channel. When I try to display the subtitles from English to Persian, this error appears. I really need this feature, so I would appreciate your help in understanding what the problem is.
What’s confusing to me is that this issue does not happen on some other videos from the same channel. Do you know what the reason could be?
Hello,
This issue has not been resolved and I really need these training courses so I can watch them with Persian subtitles.
I have checked my internet connection and there are no issues with the speed, but I am still facing problems.
Here is a sample video link that I want to watch with Persian subtitles, but I am unable to do so. Please fix this as I really need this course.
Hello @Vahid
Thanks for the link to the video. I get this error also here
Does this error only appear on this video? Or does it happen on others as well?
Hello @Vahid!
We have looked into this issue.
This video is very huge(29h), we cannot support it — we currently have a 20-second timeout for NLP requests, which should support videos up to 3-4 hours long.
The solution I can offer you is to download the video, split it into 3-4 hour segments, and upload them to MediaFile
Or, as is usually the case, the channel author combines all the videos into one (like this) from the smaller ones. There may be videos for each of these lessons on the channel, and you can watch them without any problems
Subject: Persian subtitles/captions not generating for English videos
hello
I am experiencing an issue where Persian (Farsi) subtitles do not appear or generate for any English-language videos. My internet connection is fast and stable. Many other users in my community are facing the exact same issue. Please look into this bug and fix it. Thank you.
Hello @Vahid, I opened your video on YouTube and see that the Persian translation and English subtitles are working for me.
The error you see in the upper-right corner of the screen is most likely related to the ad that appears before the video loads. This is because the extension can’t detect subtitles from the ad. You can simply close it.
If you change the translation language to any other language, do the subtitles appear or not?
If they do, please let me know.
If the subtitles are missing when you select any translation language, here are some possible solutions that might help:
Make sure the “Show machine translation” toggle is enabled in the extension settings
Try disabling all other extensions except LR, or open the video in incognito mode with only the LR extension enabled (all other extensions must be disabled).
