Loading Subtitles stopped working

LR is displaying “Loading subtitle…”. When I click the Gear icon on the time line, I see “Loading” for both the Netflix audio language and the Netflix Subtitle language.

Everything used to work ok, but now there is a problem. Who do I report the technical difficulties to? I am on a Mac Monterey, Google Chrome, Netflix, LR Pro.

My subtitles are still not loading. Is there anyone at LR who works on these technical issues. I am playing around with FluentA1 which is doing what I need, but my saved sentences are in LR. Is this going to be a forever issue of no subtitles? I have the Pro version but it is useless if the subtitles will not work. (blah). Otherwise, I love the software.

I’m not sure where we’re supposed to report issues, besides here I also sent the moderators a dm… I hope they fix it soon!

Yeah, me too. I am working on a book for language learning and was putting LR as one of the workflows. If this sw is not going to work then I need to scrap that entire chapter. Too bad because I really like the sw.

In the interim I am using FluentAI. It was a little painful getting it setup but it works pretty well.
Click the GEAR, PLAYBACK, and under Playback Mode tell it to Pause afer each (same as AutoPause [AP] on LR).

Click the GEAR, PLAYBACK, and you can set the Playback Mode to Repeat, repeat type to Scene replay, and set a repeat count and set Auto resume so after the repeats it automatically goes to the next subtitle. So far it is nice. It seems like the subtitles are already similar to ASR.

Can you share more about your book?

Helpful, I didn’t know about FluentAI!

Well, it is still a work in process, but I am starting from the ground up on what people need to do to learn a language - everything is step by step - no generalizations. Most of the stuff you see on Youtube for how to learn a language is junk. In my opinion those sites are designed for getting likes and getting revenue from Youtube and years later the poor student is no better off…

Great assessment. You’re 100% correct, most resources and content and app creators focus on fun and feeling-good to solicit your ‘like’ and subscription and skip the parts that matter.

Learning a new language has been rewarding for me. It’s also uncomfortable at times too! For example, when I’m failing at using tones correctly, can’t understand what’s being said or I keep forgetting basic words that I should know… ugh, but then, it clicks and it feels amazing

Looking back over the year I’ve been learning Chinese (mandarin), I would have had more success if more of the popular creators were honest. But then, admitting that focused, structured effort is the key isn’t going to make them as popular as quickly.

I will say that there are good resources out there but you have to know what to look for and we don’t know what we don’t know!

I wish you success with your book
