I’ve been using LR for a while for Japanese but I’ve noticed for some shows CC subtitles LR reads them fine and only shows hiragana readings for peoples names right beside the Kanji inside parenthesis. For other shows however it shows the readings, again, inside parenthesis, for every single kanji in a sentence. Is there a setting to turn this off? I’m not sure if this a problem with LR or how subtitles are formatted by Netflix, but it clutters the screen too much. The shows I’m noticing this in right now are Good Morning Call (works fine, readings only appear for names) and My Neighbor Tororo (readings in hiragana appear for every single Kanji).
